How facebook became so popular ?

Step 1: SAFE TARGET:
fb puts all the college students on target. College students are generally seeking some social activity (friendship, dating etc) and of course they are prominent internet surfers. such social activities online provided by fb , suddenly attracted lot of college students to join this.Step 2: Gen-Y effect:
Generation Y (current youths), they talk, they share, and they work under strong peer pressure.
so if my friend is on fb, now i become obligated to join it.moreover i talk to my friends in other colleges, where fb is not present yet, and in a way I am doing a free advertisement of fb even before it allows student of that college to join. so when the permission is given so many students join fb , some with true social goal, and some, just out of curiosity because they have heard a lot about that.
Step3 : Addiction:
There is no doubt that fb provides chat engine, communication portal, games and other stuff for the entertainment hungry college students. so now, we are addicted to fb , staying online all the time.

step4: "Thats what cool guys do" phenomena:
Now, I have friends outside too, who are not in college. but people like me, who go to good colleges, are the role model for those guys, and we are the cool "dude".The cool dude tells the non student guys about fb and how its a time killing app. they become enthusiatic to join fb . now fb goes public, and more people join it.

step5: A lot many people to start a society:
fbalready has "cool dudes" and so many other people joined. so now their friends join it to start a real social network. if i know that all my friends are already there, then i would definitely join to stay updated.


so thats how the fb has got so many users. earlier orkut was supposed the father of social networking, but facebook killed it all.
